Hey guys it's Jared from Fight 4 Life and Today I thought I'd throw you a Quick and Easy to Follow tutorial for all you guys out there who need a hand with setting up your hand wraps to smash out some bag and pad work...
In order to take on this Video Session, you will be needing your own set of wraps.
I Challenge you…
If you do box and you don't have wraps... GET SOME...
Now the first thing you want to do is, unroll your Wraps completely and roll them back up starting at the Velcro end.
Next up, you'll grab the little tail/loop and grip it inside your hand via your thumb and index finger.
Begin by wrapping around your knuckles with fingers spread 3 or 4 times. Slide the wraps off your fingers and fold in half.
Grip it with your thumb and index finger again, and bomb up your knuckles for reasons I'll explain why later.
Wrap over the knuckles 2 or 3 times to tie in your bombed up knuckles, then move on to two revolutions around the wrist. Now depending on how long your wraps are will determine whether you single or double wrap each time you go around the wrist.
From underneath the thumb side of the wrist, you will wrap over the top of the thumb, then back under to where you started, and go back to wrapping the wrist.
Now from the thumb side of the wrist, take the wrap through the pinky and your second finger then back to the thumb side to wrap the wrist again.
Next you'll take the wrap through the second finger and the middle finger, back under the thumb side and around your wrist again.
Then you'll wrap through the middle and index fingers and wrap the wrist again.
Now you'll bring it up between your thumb and your index finger to tie it all in.
If you have the length, wrap the wrist and repeat, otherwise finish off by attaching it all together via the velcro tabs and Bob's you're Uncle, you're wrist is now protected.
Then repeat the sequence for your other hand and your ready to bang on...
So the reason we've bombed out your knuckles at the very beginning is because it brings your knuckles out further when you're punching, otherwise your fingers will stick out further than your punching knuckles, adding unnecessary stress to your wrist.
So play around with it, have a couple of attempts and put in the effort to get used to it. You'll have to figure out how long your wraps are for you as to how you go your individual wrapping style.
So that's it for this week guys, so go get some practice and thanks for being awesome and checking out my blog.
